Optivis Labs is a small design and development studio. We help founders, organizations, and teams turn ideas into things people can actually use — brands, websites, products, and the strategy that holds them together.
We exist to make ideas legible — visually, technically, and strategically. That means designing identities that say something true, building products that hold up, and asking questions before assuming we know the answers.
Where the name comes from.
Optivis is built from two ideas. Opti — from optics and optimal — for clarity, precision, and the discipline of seeing clearly. Vis — from vision — for direction, intention, and the willingness to commit.
Labs is the part where we experiment, prototype, and stay curious. Most of what we do is craft, but the best craft starts with a question, not a template.
A small studio, on purpose.
Optivis Labs was founded in 2022 by Ammar Usamah as AAU Graphics, and rebranded to Optivis Labs in 2025 to reflect a broader practice across design, development, branding, and research.
We work as a tight studio of one founder and a network of trusted collaborators we bring in by project. We don't pretend to be bigger than we are. The advantage of working with us is direct access to the people doing the work — no account managers, no layers, no hand-offs to a junior team after the pitch.
Ammar founded Optivis Labs in 2022, combining hands-on production experience in commercial print with self-taught design and programming. Years of operating plate-setting, digital, and large-format printing equipment shaped how he approaches design — with a working understanding of how things actually get made, not just how they look on screen. He continues studying Computer Science while leading the studio.
